What is the Normal Life of a Jellyfish?
Dave Malone
It seems a legitimate question— when one considers the Turritopsis dohrnii, the miracle jellyfish of immortal flesh able to age into aquatic retirement then return as the slim shred of youth. So what is a day in the life of this humble hydrozoan who boasts much lesser names of jellyfish, sea jelly, or simply: jelly? Not even a fish, you are Cnidaria, which sounds as much marine wildlife as nasal decongestant. In the wind of water you dance a solo waltz fluttering in silk day by day to pass from child to adult and back again, and no one can blame you.
