Maryam Imogen Ghouth is of Saudi Arabian, Iranian, and British descent and lives in the leafy suburbs of Dubai, where she makes poetry films that explore psychological themes such as existential crises. Her Journey of Becoming series was showcased in Dubai’s arthouse cinema, Akil, in celebration of female artists. Her poem 'Under the Sun' was featured in Alla Dulh’s short film, which premiered worldwide.

She has directed nineteen poetry films and co-directed six, with her films Bubble Hat and Not Alone having received multiple nominations and awards. Her written poetry draws inspiration from nature, science, and the inanimate, and has appeared in the Sky Island Journal, inScribe, The Poet Anthology, Last Leaves, Querencia Press, Nocturno and Vita Brevis Anthology.
