Danielle Clode is a narrative nonfiction writer whose writing over the last 30 years has sought to promote public understanding of and engagement with Australian science, nature and history. Her books have won both the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and Federation of Australian Writers Awards for non-fiction and Whitley Awards for popular zoology and ecology. Her books have also been shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council of Australia, Adelaide Festival and National Biography awards.

She has a doctorate in conservation biology from Oxford, is a full-time freelance writer and writing teacher, and is an associate professor of creative writing at Flinders University.
